William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer

Occupations-
William Randolph Hearst was a Newspaper/Magazine Editor and Publisher. He was also in the New York House of Representatives. Joseph Pulitzer was a Newspaper and Magazine Journalist.

Position on Issue-
As a journalist it is our duty to inform people of what is going on in the world around them. It would be wrong of us to not let citizens become aware that their homeland is conquering more land and freeing innocent people from tyrants. People flourish on knowing that woman are being set free from Cuban imprisonment. Although Cuba, as well as other foreign countries, may not appreciate our writing it is what keeps our business alive and thriving. We will continue to deliver pressing intelligence to our readers. Imperialism creates a topic to write about that Americans will keep coming back to for more. We support the expansion.

Reasons-
The Spanish-American war was the beginning of imperialism in America. It has been rumored that I(William Randolph Hearst) spent up to $3 million dollars fueling the war. I will take full credit for the corruption of stories on the explosion of the USS Maine, which made many Americans want to seek revenge. When American citizens read my piece about a impoverished Cuban woman who was captured and forced into prison by Spanish officials people jumped all over my paper. By manipulating the facts I was responsible for creating an angry country that in return was ready to go to war. I have twisted the minds of the American people into agreeing with our views of expanding the American empire.
